Hi there!
Glad you made it here, it’s a pleasure to have you!
It looks like you want to know who Chimay is, allow me to introduce myself.
I will also take the opportunity to share with you what this website can offer you.

Who is Chimay?

My birth-given name is Lenny. Chimay is the arter-ego I like to go by. Named by a great friend who took me on a journey in his UFO, I flew of to become a DJ (playing ambient, down-tempo, psychedelic Dub). While my DJ-career is a bit on hold, the name stuck and I’m proudly transforming it into my overarching Artist Alter-Ego.

Fun Fact: Chimay is actually also a very delicious beer from Belgium

Okay… But WHO IS CHIMAY?

Alright, I’ll talk about me for a bit. I was born in Ghent, Belgium back in the year of 1993. I grew up in a family full of support and love. This allowed me to try, fail gracefully, but succeed in many extra-ordinary ways.

I took this to the next level, I tried… A LOT OF THINGS. Miraculously, I succeeded a lot too.
I finished my high-school diploma brewing my own beers, ran a youth bar for a couple of years allowing the younger generation to have a safe introduction to nightlife, organize and run logistic projects for Oxfam Fairtrade, coach people with a disability for a chance to work and fill in their role in society, learned about permaculture, community and animal care in a variety of countries whilst travelling, found a love for photography in wildlife, landscapes and star-scapes for others to enjoy, got stuck in a foreign country during the great C19 lockdown and experienced a loving new community with a whole bunch of amazing experiences, and now I’m here. I’ve found a place to call home in Perth Western Australia, scored a job as a Art Engineer making public art and am a part of a community as supportive, forgiving and loving as my family back home.

And who am I really? To me that question comes up with a lot of insecurities. To the people that know me, they would tell you about someone else. I’m grounded, safe, supportive, caring, witty, innovative, creative, patient, inclusive and an amazing friend.
It feels weird to write this. In the end, who I am, is also for you to decide.

I just wish you will enjoy following my journey.

What will the Chimay Workshop bring?

In my workshop you will find the range of things that interest me.

Public Art
My actual profession is making Public Art, in collaboration with local artists who received a grant for their idea, I am usually the person that brings that to life. I will be sharing past projects and updates on current projects related to my job.

Art Installations and Collaborations
My love for art doesn’t just exist Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. I get pulled in for crazy ideas and get my hands and brain into several cool projects which I will proudly share on here too.

Side-quests
Sometimes, some of my ideas snowball into an avalanche of creativity and I’ll end up being a DJ, Photographer, live pianist or something that tickles my brain in the right spot and demands my full hyper-focus, expect the unexpected and maybe get inspired to just wander off the main questline yourself.

Store
If you like my art, there is a place for you to get some for your own! Currently I’ve made some stickers, magnets, paintings and t-shirts. There will be more, so if you want to support me in any way shape or form, feel free to have a look around and maybe even bring your cursor over to the buy now button.
